Since colonial times, Brazil has transformed mining, also responsible for part of the territorial occupation, into one of the basic sectors of the national economy. Mining is responsible for the extraction of raw materials that are used by most industries, such as metallurgy, steel, fertilizers, petrochemicals, water treatment, civil construction, electronics, aeronautics, pharmaceuticals, paper, cosmetics and many others.
